Questions, answered honestly

Walk-in tub questions, without the sales script.

Some answers depend on your bathroom or the selected product. Where they do, we say so.

Before you call

Walk-in tub fit, installation and pricing.

A good consultation should leave you with fewer unknowns, not more pressure. Browse the questions homeowners and caregivers most often bring to the first conversation.

How much does a walk-in tub cost?
Installed pricing depends on the tub model, bathroom configuration, installation requirements, and selected options. Submit your project details online for straightforward preliminary installed pricing. A technical site-check then verifies fit and scope before the final proposal.

See what affects installed pricing.

What affects installation cost?
Plumbing, electrical needs, hot-water capacity, demolition, finish work, access, permitting when required and the selected installation scope can all matter.
How long does installation take?
Most standard installations are completed in 1–2 days, depending on site conditions. We’ll discuss the expected schedule after reviewing your bathroom and project scope.
Can you help with a shower-only project?
Shower-only projects are handled through our sister company, Affordable Bath. Walk-in tub replacement and installation remain through The Walk-In Tub Co.

Do I need a permit?
Permitting depends on the project and local requirements. We’ll discuss what applies to your bathroom and scope.
Do I need a larger water heater?
Hot-water capacity can be one factor in project planning. We’ll evaluate it for the specific bathroom and selected product.
Do walk-in tubs require electrical work?
Electrical requirements vary by product and project. We’ll confirm what applies before preparing a proposal.
What is the step-in height?
Comfort and Comfort Plus have a 5-inch low step-in threshold. Access has an approximately 7-1/8-inch threshold; Access Plus has a 7-inch threshold. Fit is verified for your bathroom and selected model.

Compare model entry details.

Which models offer transfer-style access?
Access has a 34.75-inch outward-swinging door with full seat access from outside the tub. Access Plus has a 30-inch outward-swinging door with front seat access. A technical site check verifies fit.

Compare the four tub categories.

Do you offer hydrotherapy or air massage?
These options may be available on selected products. We’ll confirm availability for the model being considered.
What colors are available?
Active tubs are available in White or Biscuit, subject to final model and availability confirmation.
What warranty comes with the tub?
Applicable manufacturer warranties depend on the selected product and apply according to their terms. We’ll provide the relevant manufacturer information for the product you consider.
What installation warranty do you provide?
Final installation-warranty information will be provided with the customer agreement.
What happens after the site check?
After the site check and acceptance of the Final Proposal, a signed agreement and 50% deposit are required to move forward. Cancellation and refund rights are governed by the signed agreement and applicable law.
How does your no-sales-pitch model help?
Our lower-overhead, no-sales-pitch model means more of your payment goes toward your walk-in tub and professional installation rather than commissions, showrooms, and marketing overhead.
Is financing available?
You can check financing options through Acorn Finance and participating lenders. The Walk-In Tub Co. is not a lender; any financing is provided by the participating lender and is subject to its eligibility requirements, terms, and disclosures.

Do I need photos for a Fast Quote?
Yes. Five guided bathroom photos are required for a Fast Quote so the team can review the existing tub or shower, plumbing end, opposite end, floor approach, and access path. Additional context photos are optional.
Can my adult child or family member join a virtual consultation?
Yes, you can request a virtual consultation and include the people helping with the decision.
